Just a few hours a week can make a life-long impact on a child's life.

The following Partners Services are available to ensure successful adult/child relationships:

Active Counselor Support  Counselors maintain weekly contact with the Senior Partner during the first three months of the Partnership; bi-weekly contact for the remaining nine months of the Partnership and monthly after the first year.  Program Counselors regularly contact the Junior Partner and his/her family.  Program Counselors closely monitor the development of each match.  Goals for each Partnership are set by the Senior Partner, Junior Partner, and Program Counselor.  Program Counselors provide crisis assistance as necessary and refer families to additional services when needed.

Monthly Group Activities  Recreational activities provide Partnerships with the opportunity to Interact in a positive environment, develop appropriate social skills, bond with their Partners, meet other Partnerships and have high energy fun in a drug-free, safe environment!  Activities vary monthly - camping trips, softball, ice skating, special holiday parties, and game nights are just a few examples.  Most activities are offered at substantial discount prices.

Quarterly Life Skills Workshops  Each workshop focuses on a topic that will provide Junior Partners with important information necessary for handling contemporary life issues. Senior Partners use Life Skills trainings to role model and reinforce the skills presented in each workshop to their Junior Partners. Life Skills trainings vary - past topics have included drug and alcohol prevention; cultural diversity; gang/violence prevention; communication skills and career exploration. Skills training are age appropriate and presented in a comfortable, nurturing environment.

Additional Partners Services:

Bi-Monthly Newsletters
Senior and Junior Partners receive newsletters with helpful tips on subjects varying from substance abuse prevention to suggestions for community service. Monthly calendars of upcoming activities are included.

Senior Partner Only Get Togethers
Quarterly activities, ranging from pot luck dinners to simulated golf, are hosted for our mentors. These are great opportunities to socialize with other volunteers and share advice and support.

Waiting Youth Program
Youth referred to Metro Denver Partners face an average waiting period of nine months before they are matched with an adult volunteer (older males can wait as long as one and one-half years). Monthly activities, such as field trips, movies, putt putt golf and Rockies and Bronco games are provided for these youth.

Community Service
Community service is an experiential and educational component of the program. It provides an opportunity for the Partnership to strengthen their relationship by working together as volunteers In the community. An example of an annual Community Service project Is the Holiday Food Basket Project Partnership meet to collect, assemble and distribute food baskets to needy families.
